Critically ill woman airlifted from Tel Aviv in nick of time- Time of India Exclusive

Bengaluru : It was a close call for a 57-year-old critically ill Bengaluru woman, who was being airlifted from Tel Aviv, Israel Friday afternoon. Hours after the air ambulance jet carrying her, a city-based doctor and a paramedic took off, a barrage of rockets fired by Hamas ravaged parts of the city in the wee hours of Saturday. The plane landed safely at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here and the patient was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Sources with Bengaluru airport said the Bombardier seven-seater Learjet landed here around 11.30pm Friday with the patient from Tel Aviv. “The air ambulance flown by two pilots was carrying the woman patient in a stretcher. She was accompanied by a doctor, an assistant and another civilian passenger. It landed at KIA after taking off from the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. The plane had made a stop at Abu Dhabi before reaching Bengaluru after an eight-hour flight,” said a KIA official .

Airport sources also confirmed that the critically ill woman patient was transported in the nick of time from Tel Aviv before the Hamas at tack began in the early hours of Saturday, which resulted in airports and airspaces across Israel being shut.

“On the KIA tarmac, the patient was transferred to an ambulance and moved to Manipal Hospitals. She was known to be very critical and had to be moved from Israel to India, but other details about her health condition are unclear,” an official said.

Airport sources confirmed that the air ambulance to Tel Aviv and back was operated by Bengaluru-based operator ICATT (International Critical Care Air Transfer Team) and had reached Israel on Thursday. Office of Dr Shalini Nalwad, the founderoperator of ICATT air ambulance service in Yelahanka, refused to comment on the Israeli operation citing ‘patient confidentiality.’
